Contemplation is the cure for the reactive ways of the false self.  Contemplation helps us experience the Presence of God and God’s transforming grace within the depths of our true selves.  This 3-part series will help you receive what you have always wanted:  freedom from the attachments that are an obstacle to your joy, peace and fruitfulness for the world.  Do you believe that in truth, “More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of?”  We will use some tapes of Father Thomas Keating as part of the series. Donation: $20 a session, includes lunch.

THE GIFT OF LIFE & LIFE ETERNAL
“I have come that you may have life
and have it to the full.” (Jn. 10:10)

         2 Fridays, February 8 & 15        9:30 AM – 2:00 PM

At some level we are always preparing for death.  It is always before us. The dying process is the culmination or peak of development – the whole development of the spiritual journey in which the total surrender into God involves the gift of life itself. Death is perhaps the most complete surrender. For that reason, it is not death, but life, a movement into a fullness that we can’t imagine. We are called by God to enter into the transformative process, to open to a new reality that is our True Self and beyond…to the image and the likeness of God. This discovery of ourselves is always a losing of ourselves – a death and resurrection.  Yet this is the fullness of life itself, a life abiding in the grace and truth of Christ in whom we are being built together into the dwelling place of God in the Spirit. Father Thomas Keating, via tape, will lead us through this 2-part retreat.  His final days and years were filled with wisdom that we all need as God prepares us for the awesome road ahead.  Donation:  $25 a session, lunch included.

THAT WE MAY BE ONE
THE BEST OF THOMAS KEATING

        Friday, March 15          9:30 AM – 2:30 PM

That We May Be One continues and builds on the works of Father Thomas Keating over the past 30 years.  In July 2016, Fr. Thomas sat in conversation with a few friends in an intimate and wide-ranging conversation on some timely subjects:  the oneness of all things, evolving spiritual consciousness and God’s indwelling Presence. The profound awareness of God’s Presence in us unfolds into a transforming union with the Divine Presence and we become a “New Creation.” By living and growing in consciousness, we are becoming, growing in God, in God’s presence and in God-consciousness. I believe that we will be greatly enlightened and strengthened as we view his conversation and listen to his wisdom from his years of contemplation. Donation: $25, lunch included.

MINDFULNESS AND CONTEMPLATION
        Friday, May 3          9:30 AM – Noon

There are similarities and differences between these two practices.  Contemplation is essentially prayer.  God and you are in a mutual exchange of love.  Prayer always involves two persons, one is God.  Mindfulness, on the other hand, is an awareness practice.  Mindfulness helps you pay attention.  Prayer is attentiveness and response to God and is an active engagement in your personal relationship.  We will practice both during this retreat morning so you experience the difference.  Donation: $20.

THOUGHTS MATTER
        Thursday, May 9          9:30 AM – 1:00 PM

“My thoughts make all the difference in my world.”  Believe it or not, we have the ability to choose our thoughts.  This freedom is essential to our spiritual well-being and emotional health.  This morning retreat will help us learn to notice our thoughts as they arise and choose to accept them or replace them.  With prayer and practice, we can choose our thoughts and receive a mind at peace, stilled and available for conscious thinking at will.  Donation: $20, includes lunch & materials.
