ASH WEDNESDAY RETREAT JOURNEY TO THE CENTER Wednesday, March 6 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM
We love beginning Lent together with this retreat at Francis House because it provides a gentle structure for the six-week journey ahead. This year I thought you would enjoy Journey to the Center by Father Thomas Keating to guide your Lenten prayer. Fr. Keating offers a short daily reflection which will help you make this Lent a special time of grace for you! Liturgy is also included with the reception of ashes within it. Donation: $35, includes lunch and a book for your 6-week Lenten journey
WALKING THE SACRED LENTEN PATH YOUR OWN LENTEN RETREAT Thursday, March 7 6:30 – 8:30 PM
So many of us are overly busy, but still want to make Lent a holy, sacred time, even in the midst of the busyness. This one night, on the second day of Lent might be just the thing for you. If you can come for just one night, this is a good one. Walking the Sacred Path will offer you the opportunity to make your own retreat, day by day, throughout the season. Your Lent will be so rich and deep, yet simple. Donation: $30, includes book.
GROWING INTO COMPASSION KEEPING OUR EYES ON JESUS Sunday, March 10 1:00 – 4:00 PM
This Lenten reflection will invite us to see in Jesus the Compassion of God made visible for the sake of this world that our God so loves. As we journey with Jesus through death to new life, we too will confront our need to forgive, to reconcile, to risk the love that gives itself away to all – no exceptions – no withholding. The Spirit who filled Jesus lives in us, drawing us together into the Body of Christ; growing us into the very Compassion of God. What our world most needs, we have been created to become. Now is the time; Jesus is counting on us! Presenter: Sister Cathy Nerney, SSJ, Donation: $25.
THE PASSION AND THE CROSS Monday, March 11 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM
This Monday morning retreat in the first week of Lent will get your Lenten Season off to a good start. Ronald Rolheiser, OMI, offers us new appreciation of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus. His book will be of inestimable use to anyone who has ever suffered or struggled in life… which is to say, everyone. Donation: $25, includes lunch and book.
MAINTAINING INTERIOR PEACE 3 Wednesdays 3:00 – 4:30 PM March 13 March 27 April 10
We live in a day and age characterized by an extraordinary amount of agitation, fear and anxiety. This tendency manifests itself in our interior as well as our exterior lives. How can we find peace of heart and learn to respond graciously to the upsetting situations we must all face? This series takes place during Lent. Would you like to choose the practice of interior peace as the focus of your Lenten Journey? You will receive a small, readable book for your reflection between sessions. Donation: $50, includes book.
SACRED DARKNESS ENCOUNTERING DIVINE LOVE IN LIFE'S DARKEST PLACES
3 Wednesdays 6:00 – 8:00 PM March 13 March 27 April 10
By learning to embrace darkness rather than run from it, we can experience God’s love in ways and in places where we would least expect it. This is a 3-part Lenten Retreat on the necessity and beauty of darkness as a means of encountering God in our lives. How appropriate that we are having it at night! Donation: $50, includes Sacred Darkness, which we will read between sessions.
THAT WE MAY BE ONE THE BEST OF THOMAS KEATING Friday, March 15 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM
That We May Be One continues and builds on the works of Father Thomas Keating over the past 30 years. In July 2016, Fr. Thomas sat in conversation with a few friends in an intimate and wide-ranging conversation on some timely subjects: the oneness of all things, evolving spiritual consciousness and God’s indwelling Presence. The profound awareness of God’s Presence in us unfolds into a transforming union with the Divine Presence and we become a “New Creation.” By living and growing in consciousness, we are becoming, growing in God, in God’s presence and in God-consciousness. I believe that we will be greatly enlightened and strengthened as we view his conversation and listen to his wisdom from his years of contemplation. Donation: $25, lunch included.
MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN BEFORE HOW SUFFERING TRANSFORMS US Monday, March 18 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Has your suffering transformed you, made you more gentle, patient and kind? How does that happen? Often there are 3 steps: surviving the pain, healing the pain and growing from the pain. We will explore these steps as we prayerfully consider the suffering of our lives that genuinely has made us More Beautiful Than Before. Donation: $35, includes book and lunch.
DARKNESS IN THE SPIRITUAL LIFE DESOLATION, DARK NIGHT & DEPRESSION Friday, March 22 9:30 AM – 2:00 PM
This program is specifically designed for Intern and Certified Spiritual Directors to help them identify and distinguish between the psychological and spiritual darkness that we all experience. All are welcome, however, if the topic interests you. Donation: $25. Materials included. Please bring your own lunch.
