All people desire to deepen their life with God and give God first place in their life.  Many deeply desire to go away on retreat for that purpose but circumstances prevent it.  Francis House is offering three “sizes” of opportunities for a retreat in everyday life to fit the various schedules and quantities of time available.  All three options have the same goal: to deepen life with God in everyday life, to grow in prayer and to follow Jesus more closely.  All three options are based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola.

DISCERNMENT COURSE
WHY DID GOD MAKE ME?

     9 Wednesdays                 3:30 – 5:00 PM

      September 16       December 9          March 3
      October 14           January 6              April 14
       November 11       February 3            May 12

How can we become truly the person God wants us to be with our own unique call and purpose?  St. Ignatius teaches us well how to hear the voice of God and discern the Spirits.  We will review his Rules for Discernment and use Why Did God Make Me? Finding Your Life’s Purpose, Discernment in an Evolutionary World  by Louis Savory.  Donation: $175, includes book.

RECOGNIZING GOD’S PRESENCE
REIMAGINING THE IGNATIAN EXAMEN

     Tuesday, September 29               6:30 – 8:00 PM

Discernment is a key to interior freedom and intimacy with God. It is a grace to be asked for and an exercise to practice. This evening retreat will be a jump start to a prayerful path of daily discernment called Examen. We all long to recognize God’s Presence and action in our life. Our time together will help fulfill that desire.  Donation: $15, includes materials.

DISCERNMENT & DECISION-MAKING

     Wednesday, September 30               6:30 – 8:00 PM

This evening will focus on the difference between discerning God’s will and simply making decisions from our own point of view.  Using the discernment process of St. Ignatius, we will become acquainted with seven steps that help us pray through important decisions to include God and discover God’s will for the furthering of God’s Kingdom, not our own. Do you have a big decision ahead of you?  Donation: $15, includes materials.

AN INTRODUCTION TO IGNATIAN PRAYER

     Wednesday, October 7              9:30 AM – 1:00 PM

Tune into what grabs your attention in the Scriptures!  We will practice “listening with the ear of the heart” and placing ourselves in the scenes of the Gospels.  God reveals in a very personal way to each of us when we pray these ways.  It’s amazing and life changing!  We will use Timothy Gallagher’s book, An Ignatian Introduction to Prayer, to guide us in our day together and for you to enjoy for weeks following this day.  Donation: $35, includes lunch and book.
