During this weekend retreat, we will study 9 different personality types and the path to holiness and interior freedom for each. We are all afflicted and blessed by this human condition of ours. God knows what each of us needs and guides us each along a way to wholeness and holiness that is unique, yet universal. The main goal of the weekend is to grow in understanding, acceptance and compassion for ourselves and others. We all need that. Donation: $150/$50 non-refundable deposit. Residents and commuters welcome. All meals and materials provided.

LENTEN EVENING RETREAT
ENCOUNTERING DIVINE LOVE IN LIFE’S DARKEST PLACES
3 Wednesdays 6:00 – 8:00 PM
March 13 March 27 April 10
This 3-part retreat will encourage us to overcome our fear of the dark by exploring the grace-filled role of darkness for the spiritual journey. By learning to embrace darkness rather than run from it, we can experience God’s love in ways and in places where we would least expect it. Nothing is impossible for God. God brings light out of darkness. How appropriate that we are having this retreat at night! Donation: $50, includes Sacred Darkness, which we will read between sessions.
ASH WEDNESDAY RETREAT
JOURNEY TO THE CENTER
Wednesday, March 6 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM
We love beginning Lent together with this retreat at Francis House because it provides a gentle structure for the six-week journey ahead. This year I thought you would enjoy Journey to the Center, by Father Thomas Keating to guide your Lenten prayer. Fr. Keating offers a short daily reflection which will help you make this Lent a special time of grace for you! Liturgy is also included with the reception of ashes within it. Donation: $35, includes lunch and a book for your 6-week Lenten journey
CENTERING PRAYER WEEKEND RETREAT
March 15 – 17 7:00 PM Friday to 1:00 PM Sunday
A centering prayer weekend provides the time, space and discipline needed to experience the inner stillness which occurs when given the opportunity for frequent centering prayer periods alone and in common. John of the Cross refers to “restful tranquility” and “solitary quietude” when speaking of contemplation. Jesus says, “Come to me all you who are weary, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Mt. 11:28) Donation: $130/$50 non-refundable deposit. Commuters welcome, all meals included.
DRAWN TO THE ROAD OF FIRE
TEILHARD AND STRUGGLE
Presenter: Sister Kathleen Duffy, SSJ
May 19 – 24 7:00 PM Sunday to 10:00 AM Friday
While on retreat in 1919, Teilhard experienced a transfiguration-like experience that he shares with us in his essay, “The Spiritual Power of Matter.” During this transformative event, Teilhard is moved to commit himself to a life of struggle in every aspect of his life without yet knowing what these struggles might be. In this retreat, we will consider the many ways Teilhard is confronted with struggle—as a scientist, believer, lover, Jesuit, mystic, and as a faithful member of the Church. Together we will explore some of the more significant examples, notice Teilhard’s responses, and share our experiences so that we can learn better ways of dealing with the struggles that we face in our lives and in our world today. Donation: $500/$60 non-refundable deposit with registration.
