This program calls out to those who desire to live more contemplatively in the world, to grow in union with God and others, and to become more aware, intentional and free.  God liberates us and heals us through the practice of contemplative prayer.  It’s worth a day a month and an hour a day.  The Living Contemplatively Program will help to structure your spiritual life around 6 practices: Centering Prayer, Lectio Divina, Contemplative Service, the Practice of Letting Go, Attention/Intention and Active Prayer.  Bring a bag lunch.     Tuition: $325

Can you reserve one Friday morning a month for retreat?  This year we will be under the instruction of St. Francis de Sales as we allow his love for God and gentle boldness to fill our souls with joy, peace and freedom. Donation: $200 (includes books)

We will be instructed in contemplative prayer by the best teachers.  Father Thomas Keating’s Invitation to Love is a contemporary classic on contemplative prayer as is Cynthia Bourgeault’s Centering Prayer and Inner Awakening. This session is followed by Lectio Divina and Centering Prayer 7:30 – 8:30. Donation: $150 (includes both books)

If you need or desire a retreat but simply cannot get away, please give yourself the gift of this retreat that invites you to pray with Scripture each day using the format of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.  We will meet monthly for sharing and input on the next month’s prayer.

SPIRITUAL READING GROUP

Good spiritual reading is a must for spiritual growth.  Companions on the journey help with the practice of this spiritual exercise.  This will be fun as well as fruitful.  Can you devote one Friday night a month to this pursuit?  We will read 4 books throughout the year.

 

STUDY OF ST. JOHN OF THE CROSS

We continue our study of St. John of the Cross this year using a combination of his maxims and the Ascent of Mt. Carmel, along with Ascent to Love by Ruth Burrows, OCD. We will follow with Lectio Divina and Centering Prayer 2:30 – 3:30 for those who can stay. Donation: $150

CENTERING PRAYER EVENINGS

9 Tuesdays    7:30 – 8:30 PM

We meet one Tuesday a month for 20 minutes of Lectio Divina and 40 minutes of Centering Prayer.  These evenings really help to keep your centering prayer practice alive.  There is power in the group. This is preceded by a study of the classics.  Love Offering.

ENTERING CHRIST’S PRAYER

9 Tuesdays from Sept. 23 to Nov. 18

1:00 – 2:15 PM   OR  7:00 – 8:15 PM

 

I am really excited about this because we will be entering right into the heart of Christ’s prayer and His relationship with God. You will come to know Jesus more deeply and personally by accompanying him from birth to resurrection during these weeks of prayer. We can never go wrong contemplating Jesus! Requirements: an hour for prayer daily and attendance at every Tuesday session. Sister Marcy will lead daytime sessions. Sandy Carmichael will lead evening sessions. Donation: $120 (includes book).
